Bemidji High School Marching Band hosts 'Meet the Band' event

Bemidji High School

Marching Band hosted its "Meet the Band" event on June 18 at the high school. Due to inclement weather, the band performed its "Spaghetti Western" marching show in the BHS gymnasium.

Director Derek Wickum, drumline director Eric Sundeen and color guard director Tyra Graham acknowledged seniors and special contributors to the show including Ella Tingum and Trista Wickum. Sylvia Heglund received the drum award and color guard recognitions were given to Sophia Haubrich, Mya Degelder and Moraya Holleman.

Attendees also enjoyed a pulled pork meal.

Prior to "Meet the Band," the band had earned second place in Class AAA competition on June 14 in Benson and second in Class AA competition on June 15 in Buffalo.

The band continues its season with competition on Sunday, June 30 in Lake City and at Valley Fair on Monday, July 1. The group will return to Bemidji for its Fourth of July parade performance on Sunday, July 7. Another performance is set for Friday, Aug. 9 at the Lumberjack Scramble.
