Beloit Ruritans clean up roadway in Mahoning County
BELOIT ? Beloit Ruritan Club held its annual Adopt-a-Highway litter pickup event Sunday.
Beloit resident Nick Mclaughlin and his daughter, along with volunteers from the Smith Township Police Department, joined the Ruritan Club members with picking up litter. They cleaned at least three miles of State Route 165 from South Range Road to Route 62 through Beloit.
The group collected 23 bags of roadside litter.
The event was followed by a pizza lunch at Beloit Fire Station No. 1 for residents to meet the new police officers, as Smith Township Police will be providing coverage starting in May. Adopt-a-Highway is one of the many Beloit Ruritan Club community projects.
