If December is a month of glitter and gin, January is a month of punishment and regret. According to a survey by Max Factor, the self-flagellation of the New Year even manages to work its way into the way we do our make-up.

The survey says that 55 per cent of us avoid doing glamorous make-up in the month of January, deeming it too time-consuming. Not something we were saying last month as we all huddled round the work loos’ mirrors in a haze of hair spray.

In response to this, Max Factor are calling January Glam Jan and are releasing four new shades of red lipstick inspired by Marilyn Monroe. Can’t say glammer than that.

Other stats revealed by the survey were that 70 per cent of us think adding a red lip is the easiest way to make a glamorous beauty statement, but that 53 per cent of us avoid it down to not being able to find a shade to suit our skintone.
