An Atlanta Loft Gets an Artsy Makeover
When a friend of designer Brian Patrick Flynn purchased an industrial loft in a trendy Atlanta neighborhood, she tasked him with transforming it into a cozy place she could truly call home.
"My friend and colleague, Ashley Bothwell, bought this industrial loft in an artsy neighborhood in Atlanta," Flynn says. "She wanted the loft to feel like a traditional house. It was a very fast, very affordable remodel."

This area serves as Bothwell's work space. Flynn used shiplap in a bright white paint to tone down the loft's industrial architecture.

"This super large wall was the perfect spot to showcase Ashley's favorite pieces of art, both old and new," Flynn says.

"Originally, I was going to do an all white kitchen," Flynn says. "But, Ashley and I both work in the design industry and we decided to take a chance and go with something a little more masculine and warm."

"We wanted the kitchen to feel a bit unexpected and sort of like an urban restaurant," Flynn says.

Bothwell wanted the loft to feel collected and curated. "Our objective was to make it look like she'd been living here for years," Flynn said. They enlarged some of her favorite family photos to add personality to the industrial space.

"I had used this Thibaut wallpaper on another project and Ashley loved it," Flynn says. "I installed it as a surprise for her."

To offset the cinderblock walls in the bedroom, Flynn painted them in Glidden's Deepest Woodland Green and installed an 8-foot-tall IKEA closet system upholstered in plaid fabric by Duralee.

Flynn wanted the lofted guest bedroom to have an Americana vibe. He painted the walls in Sherwin-Williams's Naval and used red and white accents in the custom Duralee bedding.
