Ashley Benson and Cara Delevingne are maybe dating and definitely giving social media all the feels

They’re not exactly official, but based on the latest paparazzi photos, it sure does look like Cara Delevingne and Ashley Benson are dating. On Tuesday, photographers snapped the actresses kissing each other at London’s Heathrow Airport, a location where PDA might as well be a press release. The sight made Twitter explode with celebrations of this budding young love.

“Ashley Benson and Cara Delevingne are really out here being the cutest dang couple so we better jump aboard this ship,” wrote @dodiesColleen_x of the Pretty Little Liars alumna and the British supermodel.

A frequent reaction was some variation on was @zwanheda’s all-caps declaration: “ASHLEY AND CARA KISSING? 20GAYTEEN IS REALLY OUR YEAR.”

While Pretty Little Liars was notable to many viewers for how it handled Emily’s (Shay Mitchell) coming out, none of its main stars has been in a gay relationship, at least as far as the press is concerned. Mitchell herself frequently refused to label her own sexuality. Something about seeing Benson, who has never discussed her sexuality in the press, in a relationship with a woman now seems somewhat comforting to her fans.

When celebrities and media personalities are out and accepted by the public, young LGBTQ people form a more positive opinion of themselves, studies have shown. It’s especially helpful to see that society doesn’t reject Benson and Delevingne for their relationship.

The pairing isn’t completely news to fans, as Benson and Delevingne were first spotted holding hands in New York back in May. They were both in the city to shoot the movie Her Smell, about a self-destructive punk rock singer (Elisabeth Ross) who mentors a younger artist (Delevingne). According to New York magazine, they were also seen making out in the audience of Saturday Night Live and at a Lauryn Hill concert.

All of this seemed problematic to anyone who assumed that Delevingne was dating Paris Jackson at the time. Jackson herself took to Twitter in June to clarify that “Cara and i were never officially exclusive, you guys made that up.”

Still, Benson and Delevingne didn’t make any more public appearances together until the end of July, when they started appearing at various friends’ birthday parties. The Twitter account @CaraUpdates has been documenting all of this, of course, so you can see various cute videos of the two singing and hanging out together. Many also pointed out that Benson’s most recent Instagram pic shows her wearing a necklace with the letters “C” and “A.”

“I’m crying here,” wrote skarimxil in the comments of that Instagram. “Makes me so happy I swear!! I love you both so much that its like a dream come true!! I really hope you two have a great time together!! I love you and Cara so much.”

Not only was Benson seemingly at Kylie Jenner’s party with her maybe girlfriend, but she was at Delevingne’s own birthday celebration on Sunday.

Meanwhile, some seem to think Paris Jackson was tweeting about the new couple, either in support of them or being a tiny bit sarcastic, when she wrote, “Welp. She makes you happy so.. whatever makes you happy.”
