Ariana Grande Had to Change the Bend and Snap in 'Thank U, Next' So She Wouldn't Get Sued
If you've been living under a rock, Ariana Grande's "Thank U, Next" video is here, and it's full of plenty of rom-com easter eggs. Among them, a little tribute to Legally Blonde's Bend and Snap-but it turns out Grande had to put her own twist on the move so she wouldn't get sued.
In a Twitter exchange with the the film's O.G. front runner Reese Witherspoon, Grande revealed that her and her team had to execute the iconic move a little differently. (In the video, it's more of a "Bend and Slowly Come Back Up" than a Bend and Snap.) The good news is, it's still Elle Woods-approved.
"Can we please talk about @ArianaGrande's Bend and Snap?! 10/10 nailed it! #thankunext," wrote Witherspoon, to which Grande replied, "Omg we tried to put our own twist on it so legal wouldn’t come for us but THANK U. This is the biggest honor. Love u more than words," with her signature "Thank U, Next" black heart emoji.
