How Archie Will Play a Major Role on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Southern African Tour
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have headed back to London to pick up Archie before they embark on their first international tour with him. The couple was photographed boarding a commercial flight in Rome on Saturday morning, returning home from their trip to Italy for Markle’s friend Misha Nonoo’s wedding.
The couple will be taking their baby on a tour of southern Africa, where they have a packed schedule. They’ll start in Cape Town, visiting a “female empowerment training” workshop and end their trip 10 days later with South African president Cyril Ramaphosa and his wife Dr. Tshepo Motsepe.
Archie will be playing a crucial role during his first official royal tour. While there are no official events where Archie is scheduled to appear, he will undoubtedly be making a few appearances.
“From a public relations point of view the Duke and Duchess really do need to show the people Archie. He is the best ticket they have got for getting people to refall in love with them,” Editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine, Ingrid Seward, told The Telegraph.
The royal couple have faced their share of criticism as of late, most recently with their private flights in Europe this summer.
“People are very susceptible to images of children. I don’t see the point of hauling him all the way there only to keep him under wraps,” Seward added.
The couple also reportedly plan to bring coloring books and supplies to donate to children. According to The Telegraph, Meghan has been asking advisors on what she can bring on the trip that will have an immediate impact on the people there.
This trip won’t include any regal dinners or tourist stops, something a source said is intentional, as the couple hope to “roll up their sleeves and do work in the community.”
“The balance of the program reflects their style of hands-on work,” the source added.
