Are Archie and Lilibet at Queen Elizabeth's Funeral?
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's two children—three-year-old Archie Harrison and one-year-old Lilibet Diana—were nowhere to be seen at the somber funeral service for Queen Elizabeth, held today at Westminster Abbey.
Since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had initially arrived in the United Kingdom for charity-related appearances when the queen passed away, it is unclear if they had brought their kids along with them or if they remain at home in Montecito, California. Archie and Lili have yet to be seen during any of Harry and Meghan's public appearances following the monarch's death, though the kids's royal cousins, nine-year-old Prince George and seven-year-old Princess Charlotte, attended today's funeral accompanied by their mother, Catherine, Princess of Wales.
While they are absent from today's event, Harry made sure to reference his children while paying tribute to his grandmother in a touching note.
The sweet message, which was released on the website of his and Meghan's Archewell nonprofit, was in part written to address the queen directly.
"Granny, while this final parting brings us great sadness, I am forever grateful for all of our first meetings—from my earliest childhood memories with you, to meeting you for the first time as my Commander-in-Chief, to the first moment you met my darling wife and hugged your beloved great-grandchildren," Harry wrote. "I cherish these times shared with you, and the many other special moments in between. You are already sorely missed, not just by us, but by the world over. And as it comes to first meetings, we now honour my father in his new role as King Charles III."
