Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom Featurette Reveals Jetpack Octopus
There’s a new featurette for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, and it shows off a bunch of jaw-dropping set-pieces from DC’s upcoming superhero spectacular.
We see Aquaman actor Jason Momoa ride a glowing blue seahorse that flips him up on an ocean platform, a giant underwater bug chasing away an army, and an octopus with a jetpack.
“It is James [Wan] tapping into that incredible, scary movie filmmaker side of his mind,” says producer Peter Safran on Aquaman 2’s horror sensibilities.
The film’s director, James Wan, previously directed The Conjuring, Insidious, Malignant, and Saw, so he knows a bit about how to frighten audiences.
Don’t expect a straight-up DC horror film, however. Lost Kingdom still knows it’s an Aquaman movie.
“I really want to embrace the retro aesthetic,” says Wan. “Lost Kingdom is from thousands of years ago. It really allows me to go back to the silver age of the comic book,” he says.
Let’s hope the film doesn’t have a bunch of cameos because that’s the exact thing that’s caused James Gunn to throw shade at Marvel for.
