There's a new "No Scrubs" cover — from the most unexpected band
The hit TLC song “No Scrubs” defined a generation, and its message still rings true in 2019. We still don’t want no scrub. And although we’ve heard many “No Scrubs” covers since its release in 1999, this most recent one may be our all-time favorite. Weezer—yes, “Say It Ain’t So” Weezer—just dropped their version of “No Scrubs” on January 23rd. And honestly, it’s an alt-rock bop.
And Twitter is equal parts excited and bewildered by this development.

Check out the “No Scrubs” cover below.
The cover is one of ten off of Weezer’s (Teal Album), which dropped on January 23rd. On the new album, Weezer covers some of the best songs to come out of the ’80s and ’90s, like “Everybody Wants To Rule The World” by Tears For Fears, “Billie Jean” by Michael Jackson, and of course, “Africa” by Toto. Teal Album is a teaser of what’s to come next for Weezer. The band, who splashed onto the music scene in the early ’90s, is getting ready to release their next original album, The Black Album, on March 1st. Their most recent album before Teal was 2017’s Pacific Daydream.
And of course, this now makes us want to listen to the original track.
Keep your eyes peeled for Weezer’s The Black Album come March 1st.
