There's Going To Be a TV Special Celebrating the 25th Anniversary of 'Hocus Pocus'
Cult classic Halloween movie Hocus Pocus is celebrating twenty-five years of existence on October 20, and Freeform has decided to honor the occasion with a TV special. There'd be cake but for the fact that, you know, the whole "blowing out them candles" deal is a little awkward. Or, actually, maybe that's PERFECT?!
The special, Hocus Pocus 25th Anniversary Halloween Bash, will air as part of the network's 31 Nights of Halloween. Interviews with two out of the three Sanderson sisters-Sarah Jessica Parker (Sarah) and Kathy Najimy (Mary)-have already been confirmed. And not all surprise guests have been announced just yet, so there's a chance Bette Midler (Winifred) might just pop by.
E! News reports that viewers can also expect to see other cast members including Omri Katz (Max Dennison), Thora Birch (Dani Dennison), Doug Jones (Billy Butcherson)-in case you were wondering what they're up to now. The movie's director Kenny Ortega, choreographer Peggy Holmes, and composer John Debney will also be there to reminisce; there'll be performances by Descendants actress Dove Cameron and the boy band PrettyMuch. The iconic drag queen Lady Bunny will also be serving as a DJ, and tbh if Bette Midler doesn't show up I think we can all agree that Bunny should be Winifred for the night?
And that's not all! There's going to be a Hocus Pocus costume contest, and before and after the show the network will air a "Pop'n Knowledge" edition of the movie "that will include a mix of trivia, observations and commentary around key moments and quotes in the movie." Why stop there!? Consider a Hocus Pocus drinking game where you take a shot (of a witch's brew cocktail, naturally) every time Binx gets sassy, for example. Or running around your block a few times while riding a mop.
Tune in to Freeform on Saturday, October 20 at 8:15 p.m. to catch the Hocus Pocus 25th Anniversary Halloween Bash.
