There's a brand new Poke?mon game coming, so no need to leave the house this summer
If you’re stressed about coming up with fun activities to do this summer, we have two words for you: Pokémon Quest. Pokémon just unveiled a new slate of games that will take you on an adventure, no pants and no stepping out of the house required! First on the list is Pokémon Quest, an RPG that is now available for download on Nintendo Switch all for the price of FREE. It will soon arrive on iOS and Android in late June.
Unlike the old Pokémon games we’ve all gotten used to playing in the past, Pokémon Quest has a Minecraft-style aesthetic, so get ready for irresistibly charming cube Poliwags and cube Clefairys. Marketed as a game for “trainers of all ages,” it will bring you a new place called Tumblecube Island, where you can “face off against wild Pokémon and embark on many exciting expeditions.”
With a team of up to three Pokémon, you can explore the secrets of Tumblecube Island. Battle wild Pokémon, gather treasure, and even befriend new Pokémon—if you have the right ingredients, that is! #PokemonQuest puts the power in your hands. pic.twitter.com/BuVVenFAYR

Pokémon Quest is primarily focused on the Kanto Region, which means that you’ll have a chance to catch the OG lineup (Charmander and Squirtle, anyone?). And instead of having to fight the critters and seize them via Pokéballs, the game requires you to win them over with food. Trainers will then have to “cook dishes” to attract various species. Plus, you get to customize your respective basecamps, and enhance your teams using “Power Stones.” You’ll also be allowed to choose how powerful you want your Pokémon to be.
In #PokemonQuest, you get to decide which characteristics your Pokémon will have! You can use special items called Power Stones to strengthen your team. The kind of Pokémon they become is completely up to you! pic.twitter.com/zI8kmZxhHg

The Pokémon fun doesn’t end there. Later this year, we’ll also get two character-centric games: Pokemon: Let’s Go Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go Eevee!, both slated to be released on November 16th.
Inspired by Pokémon Yellow and tied in with Pokémon Go, both games will let Trainers chuck Pokéballs using Nintendo Switch Joycons, or get this: a Pokéball Plus. Yes, an actual, working Pokéball you can hold and play with. So should there be a Pokémon lurking within your vicinity, the IRL Pokéballl will light up and vibrate to notify you right away.

You can use the #PokeBallPlus as a Joy-Con in #PokemonLetsGo! Good things may happen if you place one of your favorite Pokémon into the device and walk around with it in the real world. It will be able to connect to Pokémon GO as well! pic.twitter.com/I18Y55odpp
