Annual Catfish Derby, Festa Italiana, Stockton Pride Family Day: June events
Warmer days are ahead of us, school is almost out and summer is around the corner.
Not only does June bring the first day of summer on June 20, but it also bring fun events throughout the month in Stockton or nearby.
June's lineup includes the Catfish Derby, Festa Italiana, the Stockton Pride Family Day, and Intocable (a Tejano/Norteno band) performing at the Bob Hope Theatre. Save the dates for one, two, or as many of these 20 things to do in Stockton and San Joaquin County.
Annual Catfish Derby
The annual Catfish Derby is back on June 1 at Oak Grove Regional Park at 4520 W Eight Mile Rd in Stockton.
There will be 1,700 pounds of catfish for prizes, the San Joaquin County Parks website states. Gates will open at 6:15 a.m. on Saturday with the last weigh-in at 12:30 p.m.
There will be youth and adult competitions with a five fish limit. Children fish for free, $5 cash for anglers age 16 and older. Parking is $6, the park's website states.
This event is hosted by the San Joaquin County Parks and Recreation and supported by the Delta Fly Fishers.
A valid California fishing license is required.

Stockton Taste of Jazz Festival
A jazz festival is coming to the Weber Point Event Center at 221 N. Center St. in Stockton. Stockton Taste of Jazz Festival is a two-day event held on Saturday, June 1 and Sunday, June 2.
"Sit back and relax while listening to the tunes of some of the best Jazz performers around," Norcal Events states on Eventbrite.
Both days run from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. with musical performances throughout both days. General admission tickets start at $39.50 (without fees) and VIP tickets are $100 (without fees).

Manteca Watermelon Street Faire
Watermelon can be found in abundance at the Watermelon Street Faire in Manteca this weekend.
The two-day event begins at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 1 and ends at 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 2 in downtown Manteca at Main and Yosemite streets.
There will be over 40 food trucks and food vendors, more than 275 craft and commercial vendors, a car show and a beer garden, a flyer on the Manteca Chamber of Commerce website states.
"The Manteca Watermelon Street Fair is one of the largest events in the region and voted among the best events to attend in Northern California. It attracts over 40,000 people every year to celebrate with food, music, vendors, and activities," the chamber's website states. "For over 29 years, the faire has helped bring the community together in a massive celebration, which in addition to serving our residents and guests, helps generate thousands of dollars in revenue for the city and local businesses."
The kids zone will feature three rotations of watermelon eating contests, water balloon toss and watermelon relay races throughout the celebration on both days at the Library Park at 320 W. Center St. Entertainment both days will be at Wilson Park at 224 W. Center St. in Manteca.

Color Songs paintings by Nancy Roberts at the Grand Theatre Center for the Arts to close out the centennial season
The Grand Theatre Center for the Arts is presenting "Color Songs," which are paintings by Nancy Roberts to close out their Centennial Season.
The paintings will be on display starting Saturday, June 1 through Saturday, July 27 at the GWF Energy and Souza Family Foundation Galleries, a Grand Theatre Center for the Arts statement states.
"Color Songs presents a survey of paintings by Nancy Roberts spanning decades of curiosity, exploration and brush-mileage. With subjects ranging from landscapes and figures to florals, tools, and toys, Nancy developed unique vision and a distinguished style," the statement reads. "Her bold designs and vibrant color weaves joyful harmony through this premiere collection."
There will be an opening reception on Saturday, June 1 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. On Saturday, June 22 there will be a gallery talk with the artist from 12 to 1:30 p.m.
The exhibit is free and open to the public, a flyer states.

Stockton Ports Games
The Single-A Minor League Baseball Affiliate of the Oakland Athletics, the Stockton Ports, will have 14 home games in June at the Banner Island Ballpark, also known as the Stockton Ballpark.
Stockton Ports are scheduled to play the Modesto Nuts and the San Jose Giants at home this month.

49th Stockton Jewish Food Fair
The annual Stockton Jewish Food Fair returns on Sunday, June 2 at 9:30 a.m. at the Temple Israel at 5105 N. El Dorado St. in Stockton.
"The Jewish Food Fair is a great community gathering that has been a staple of Stockton events for halfa century. Many traditional foods will be offered, such as blintzes, latkes, and piroshki, as well as newitems to try, such as brisket tacos," a statement reads.
Admission is free for the event.
There will also be a Judaica shop, a silent auction, folk dancing and sanctuary tours.

Elmo, the Cookie Monster and Abby Cadabby will be performing live at the Bob Hope Theatre at 242 E. Main St. in Stockton on Tuesday, June 4.
Doors will open at 5 p.m. the show will start at 6 p.m.

FatherFest 2024
The First 5 San Joaquin and Yosemite Street Village are hosting FatherFest 2024 on Saturday, June 8.
The event will take place at the Yosemite Street Village at 900 block of Yosemite Street between Acacia and Poplar Streets. It will start at 10 a.m. and go through 2 p.m.
"This event will feature fun dad-and child-friendly games and activities, food trucks, live music, community resources, and more. The event will be held at the Yosemite Street Village in Stockton," a Facebook event page states online.

Kidz Fest
A new event is coming to town on Saturday, June 8 at the Weber Point Events Center at 221 N. Center St in Stockton.
"Kidz Fest is an event revolved around kids and the things they like to do! Bubbles, Slime, themed Characters, Funny Clowns and so much MORE! There will be plenty of entertainment for the day," a Facebook event page states online.
The event will begin at 11 a.m. for VIP and at noon for general admission.
General admission tickets are $20 for all ages. VIP tickets are $60 for all, includes early entry, VIP section seat, hot dog or hot link, chips and a drink.

Festa Italiana!
Festa Italiana returns to the Lodi Grape Festival Grounds on Sunday, June 9.
The event will begin at 10 a.m. and go through 4 p.m. at 413 E. Lockeford St. in Lodi with live music, a Mercato Italian Marketplace, Italian art, and a bocce ball and salami toss, their website states.
Festivities also include a pizza pie contest, local wines, a kids zone, and more.
Tickets are $20 per person. Children 12 years old and under enter free with an adult.

Stockton Cargo SC games
The Stockton Cargo SC, a women's pre-professional soccer league, will have three home games this June.
Their first home game this month is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Monday, June 10. They face the Pleasanton Rage at the Knoles Field at the University of the Pacific at 3601 Pacific Ave. in Stockton.
One dollar from each ticket for that game will be donated to the San Joaquin Pride Center, Stockton Cargo SC stated on a Facebook post.
The team will also play Academica and The Olympic Club this month.
Tickets are $15 per carload, the website states.

Astronomy in the Park
Have you ever wanted to view the moon or M13 (star cluster in Hercules) up close through the lens of a telescope? Then go to Oak Grove Regional Park on Saturday, June 15.
Telescope viewings occur once a month and feature a different deep sky object. This also happens on the Saturday closest to the first quarter moon.
Sunset is at 8:30 p.m. June 15. The moon and M13 (star cluster in Hercules) can be seen at that time. The Deep Sky Object, the M51 (Whirlpool Galaxy) will be seen when the sky is at its darkest around 10 p.m.
The event is free, but the county charges $6 for parking, according to Visit Stockton.

Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live Glow Party at the Adventist Health Arena
The Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live Glow Party will stop for two days at the Adventist Health Arena in downtown Stockton from June 15 to June 16.
Hot Wheels Monster Trucks that will be at the event include "Mega Wrex," "Bigfoot" and the new "HW 5-Alarm."
"The Glow Party production features a laser light show, spectacular theatrical effects, dance parties, and Hot Wheels toy giveaways" the Stockton Live website states.

48th annual Stockton Juneteenth
The San Joaquin Juneteenth Foundation nonprofit is celebrating its 48th annual Stockton Juneteenth celebration on Saturday, June 15.
The event will begin from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Weber Point Events Center at 221 N. Center St. in Stockton.
Their theme this year is "Love, Respect, Honor."
This is a ticketed event, but tickets are free and paid for by the event sponsors, the event's Facebook page states.
The event's Facebook page states there will be free Father's Day pictures, a youth area and activities, social justice booths and resources, food, music, and more.

The Stockton Cruise Night returns this month on the third Thursday of June at 6 p.m. at the Stockton Miracle Mile at 2301 Pacific Ave. in Stockton.
"If you have a classic car or just love to look at them. We will be having an actual cruise where people get to cruise and park their cars on the Miracle Mile. We meet on (the) third Thursday at 6 p.m. on the Miracle Mile May through October," the Stockton Cruise Night Facebook page states.

Taste of the Mile at the Stockton Miracle Mile is having Havana Nights on Saturday, June 22.
The ticketed event will begin at 6 p.m. and go to 10 p.m. There will be food from Miracle Mile restaurants such as Cocoro Bistro, La Palma and Ululani's Hawaiian Shave Ice.
There will be live entertainment by The David Perez Band.
