Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Went Live on Instagram While Building Ikea Furniture and Drinking Wine

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez-who has already proven she knows how to master social media-went on Instagram Live on Wednesday night to take on a highly relatable task for 20-something women: Building IKEA furniture while drinking wine and eating popcorn.
The 29-year-old Democratic congresswoman admitted to her followers that, while she's been in her Washington D.C. apartment for several months now, she still had no furniture and was sleeping on a mattress on the floor. Hence, the IKEA furniture.
While building the pieces (with no tools of her own, mind you), she answered questions about President Trump's tax returns, the military draft, the potential of Puerto Rico becoming a state, and more.
According to Newsweek, she also spent time talking about climate change, which has become a key part of her platform. She said, "We have 12 years left to cut emissions by at least 50 percent, if not more, and for everyone who wants to make a joke about that, you may laugh but your grandkids will not."
She also spoke about the criticism she receives from the other side of the aisle: "The reason Republicans hate me so much is because I confront them directly on ... their lack of moral grounding on so many issues."
"It may take a year, it may take 30 years, it may take a generation, but truth will always rise," she continued. "It will always rise, and so long as I can go home every single day and look to myself in the mirror and say, 'You did what you thought was right and you did not compromise people and their well being along the way,' as long as I can sleep at night, that’s all I care about. And I can sleep at night knowing that I did everything I could for all people."
