Alex Borstein Receives the Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series

Tonight, the 71st annual Emmy Awards took place at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. During the ceremony, Alex Borstein won the statuette for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for playing Susie Myerson in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, which stars Rachel Brosnahan, Tony Shalhoub and Marin Hinkle.
She was up against a slew of worthy contenders, including Sarah Goldberg for Barry, Sian Clifford for Fleabag, Olivia Colman for Fleabag, Betty Gilpin for GLOW, Marin Hinkle for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Kate McKinnon for Saturday Night Live and Anna Chlumsky for Veep.
The Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series category has been around since 1954. Previous winners include Borstein for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Kate McKinnon for Saturday Night Live, Allison Janney for Mom, Merritt Wever for Nurse Jackie, Julie Bowen for Modern Family, Jane Lynch for Glee, Kristin Chenoweth for Pushing Daisies and Jean Smart for Samantha Who?
Rhea Perlman (Cheers) and Doris Roberts (Everybody Loves Raymond) currently hold the record for most wins in this category, with four statuettes each.
