Alana 'Honey Boo Boo' Thompson Involved in Car Chase That Led to Boyfriend's DUI Arrest
The reality star was caught up in an incident with the police in Georgia.
Alana Thompson, known to most as "Honey Boo Boo," got into a little trouble this week in Georgia while in a car driven by her boyfriend, Dralin Carswell.
On the afternoon of Tuesday, Feb. 28, Thompson was in a Dodge Charger driven by Carswell with another male passenger when the police ran the tag and discovered that the car's owner had outstanding warrants.
The police attempted to pull them over in a traffic stop, but the driver sped off, leading the police on a chase for around three miles, as reported by the local publication, the Monroe County Reporter.
The police were able to stop the car with a PIT maneuver (precision immobilization technique) that spun and eventually disabled the vehicle.
Thompson's 21-year-old boyfriend was arrested for DUI, fleeing, failing to maintain lanes, and following too closely, while the other passenger, 24-year-old Julian Malik Divon Williams, was arrested for the previously-mentioned outstanding warrants.
The Here Comes Honey Boo Boo star was not arrested and was only a witness to the incident. She has made no public comment about what happened.
Thompson and Carswell have been dating for two years, although the 17-year-old hasn't commented too much on the relationship or her boyfriend.
Last summer, the reality TV star spoke with Entertainment Tonight and made a rare comment about the public's criticism of her relationship, saying, "In our relationship, the two most things that everybody is always talking about is our age gap and definitely because he's Black and I’m white and we're an interracial couple."
But Thompson doesn't pay it much mind, adding, "I don’t care because, like, at the end of the day, my sister approves, his mom approves, and we're happy, so what fans got to say or what haters got to say I don’t really care."
