Ahh, the Co-Creator of ‘Friends’ Just Revealed What the Characters Would Be Up to Today
Friends co-creator Marta Kauffman shares where she thinks the characters would be now.
The show just celebrated its 25th anniversary.
It’s absolutely wild that the iconic television show Friends just celebrated its 25th anniversary, because I think that I speak for everyone when I say that we all still watch it all of the time. (And I’m personally still *very* upset that the show is leaving Netflix, because sometimes I just need my fix!)
And because the show only had 10 seasons, instead of, say, 30, co-creator Marta Kauffman recently revealed what she thinks the characters would be up to today. According to Us Weekly, earlier this month at the Tribeca TV Festival festival, she shared:
I think Monica and Chandler are together. They have their twins. They’re doing great. Joey, I think, has six kids. I think he is married and has six kids. I think Ross and Rachel are still together and Emma’s in therapy! And Phoebe and Mike are still together. Phoebe and Mike are definitely still together. And they have either adopted or fostered children.
And while I personally would *love* to watch those stories play out in a Friends reboot (and Jennifer Aniston said that the cast is down to do it!), Marta also shared that she has no plans to revive the series, saying:
There are two reasons for that, one of them is the reason we won’t do a reunion, is this is a show about that time in your life when your friends are your family and once you start having family, that changes, so it wouldn’t be what’s at the heart of the show anymore. But the other reason is, it’s not going to be what we did.
Ugh, FINE. I guess I’ll just have to watch ‘The One Where No One’s Ready’ for the 100th time.
