720 Market expands with new Stark County events
Fans of 720 Community Markets, rejoice!
The combination food-crafter-entertainment events are expanding, and both 720 Community Markets and 720 SidestreetMKTS are scheduled throughout summer around Stark County.
The first of these warmer-weather season markets will be the 720 Market's Bar B*Q MKT Pop Up on Saturday at the North Canton Brews, Bourbon and BBQ Festival at MAPS Museum at Akron-Canton Airport. It will run 5 to 9 p.m.
Next up will be the new, smaller-scale 720 SidestreetMKT, which will be open 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 8 at Oakwood Square in Plain Township. These markets will be held the second Saturday of the month at that location.
720 SidestreetMKTS were born out of the COVID-19 pandemic, when large-scale gatherings weren't permitted. Lynn and Dave Shimko of Team 720 said the markets were allowed to operate on side-streets, such as a simple green space at Oakwood Square Plaza in Plain Township.

These markets are expected to have more than 60 vendors, and offer visitors the chance to check out Plain Township Legacy Park Amphitheater and Oakwood Square, which is at 2610 Easton St. NE in Plain Township.
Look for other 720 Market and SidestreetMKTS events, such as a return to Walsh University with a 720 + Taco Party on July 20. A SidestreetMKT Harvest Market is set Oct. 12 at Oakwood Square; and a Pre-Thanksgiving Brewhouse Pop Up is planned Nov. 23 at Royal Docks Brewhouse and Cannery, 5646 Wales Ave. NW in Jackson Township. The day before, and on four weekends beginning Nov. 22, a 720 Holiday Market at Oakwood Square is planned. It will be reminiscent of European Christmas markets, complete with artisan vendor sheds.
