This $7 Body Wash Changed My Showers Forever

You know the drill. Lather, rinse, repeat. Likely, I'm grabbing the first body wash I find and stepping into the shower after pressing snooze a couple times in the morning or after a post-workday workout. Despite being a grooming editor, I've never really cared about shower gels or body washes in particular.

Why? Uh, well, the whole point is getting clean. Usually, doing that doesn't require anything too wildly innovative to get the job done.

For another thing, the scents of shower gels fade quickly, especially when competing with the strong smells of deodorant and cologne.

So whether it's Dove or Axe, I've just grabbed the first body washes I've seen and made a break for it. All clean.

If this new body wash from Harry's has proven anything, though, it's that lather, rinse, repeat doesn't have to be – well, mundanely repetitive.

I started with fig, a bright, fruity scent that felt energizing for the early mornings before work. Eventually, I moved onto stone, an invigoratingly clean scent, and shiso, a rich, earthy scent, for my showers. No matter how the scent, I noticed two big things.

The body washes from Harry's aren't at all overpowering, but they have lasting power. Where some men's body washes go heavy on the musk, these go bright, light, and refreshing. The best part is that the scent lasts, mingling perfectly with deodorant and cologne. I got more compliments on my own scent after using these than ever before, and who doesn't love smelling great?

The other important factor was that they're not just regular, run-of-the-mill body washes. They feel luxurious and keep the skin soft. Combined with their scent, they feel more like a good spa day than a necessary bathing ritual. You don't mind the cycle of lather, rinse, and repeat when the repetition feels fun and indulgent.

I hesitate to call showers self-care (though they can be!), but these at least help make showers a bit more fun. And that's not easy to do.

And the cherry on top is the price. Though you'd likely think these cost something upwards of $20 (a travesty I will admit I've paid for a supposedly "high-end" body wash in the past), they're just $7 at Target. For 16 ounces of product, that's a very reasonable deal.

Looks like lather, rinse, repeat just got an extra step: enjoy.
