5th annual Great Beckley Beer Festival raises funds to support a good cause
BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) – The Great Beckley Beer Festival is helping a lot more than local breweries.
WV Collective’s Youth Theater Camp presents ‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid’ at the Raleigh Playhouse
The 5th annual Great Beckley Beer Festival took over the Beckley Intermodal Gateway. Beer vendors were serving up different styles of a bit of everything from craft beer to ciders to seltzers.
Beer Festival Co-organizer and co-founder of the collective, Jamie Smith said, “Those 70 different styles were brought to us by about 24-25 different vendors and most of them are from right here in West Virginia. So, it is really a celebration of the art of brewing in West Virginia.”
Local rock bands, Never Zero and Shawn Benfield and the Resolution were the performers at this festival.
There were also other services set up there, like local food vendors.
People could buy tickets to taste all the different drinks for $35 apiece, including Designated Driver tickets for $10.
Smith told 59News the Collective is a nonprofit organization that promotes performance art projects.
“A West Virginia Story” opens at Raleigh Theatre on November 1st
“We say not everyone is an athlete. A lot of kids are playing sports and stuff but we get kids involved in a musical production towards the spring and summer time,” said Smith.
