It’s a fact: Cooking more meals at home leads to more dirty dishes. And, if you don’t have a dishwasher or just happen to have really fancy dishes that can’t withstand the intense wash cycle, you’ll need to roll up your sleeves and start scrubbing yourself.
There’s nothing revolutionary about cleaning dishes or drying them, however, this collapsable Five TwoOver-the-Sink Drying Rackby Food52 may make the process slightly better.

Food52 started out, roughly a decade ago, as a website for home chefs and foodies. It was filled with recipes often submitted by readers and tested by editors. Since then, it’s won James Beard awards for both its recipes and articles, published a New York Times best-selling book and launched a shop with kitchenware that, according to the brand’s site, is test-kitchen approved.
Needless to say, Food52 and its team know their way around a kitchen. So, it’s no surprise that its owned and operated brand, Five. Two by Food52, could create such an innovative, yet basic dish-washing tool.
Here’s why the aforementioned dish rack is so awesome: It’s made of easy-to-clean, heat-resistant, silicone-coated stainless steel and rolls out to fit over your sink (it fits most sink sizes) to save space on your counter. When you want to put it away, simply roll it back up to put away in your cupboard or pantry.
It comes with a small caddy for drying utensils — both the caddy and rack is perforated for quicker drying times and water drainage. Not to mention, it can hold heavy pots and pans, fragile glasses and more.

In addition to making your dish drying much more efficient, it can be used in other creative ways: to wash and dry produce, as a cooling rack for baked goods or as a trivet for a hot pan.
Now, for a little bad news: The Five Two Over-the-Sink Drying Rack technically hasn’t launched yet. The brand is only accepting pre-orders and the product is so popular that its next ship date is June 8. While you can submit a pre-order for $45, choose between three neutral colors (white, gray or blue) and wait patiently, we’ve also found a very similar rack for nearly half the price.
Shop: Sur La Table Over-the-Sink Drying Rack, $25

Sur La Table has an over-the-sink dish drying rack that is almost identical, featuring heat resistant, silicone-covered, stainless steel and a roll-up design. Although it doesn’t come with the handy caddy and is only available in gray, you can get it for $25 and have it shipped to you ASAP. Plus, if you order a few more things, Sur La Table also offers free shipping on orders over $59.
So, who knows? A new drying rack like this could make washing dishes stink less. At the least, it could free up some counter space and cut out the time you might spend towel drying. It definitely won’t make doing the dishes any harder or less enjoyable. That’s for sure.
