Woman makes multimillion-dollar discovery in purse: 'I'm still in shock'
An Australian woman just became a multimillionaire after cashing her winning lottery ticket from way back in December.
Why did it take so long for the woman to cash her ticket, you ask? Well, according to The Lott, the North Sydney resident didn’t realize she was in possession of the winning ticket until recently.
“Four months after the draw, a young North Sydney woman has fished a $2.7 million winning Saturday Lotto ticket from the bottom of her handbag, discovering she’s unknowingly been a multi-millionaire since the beginning of the year,” the company explained in a press release.
The anonymous woman was one of 11 people to have a winning ticket for the Saturday Lotto’s $30 Million Megadraw on Saturday, December 28. Each winner received $2,727,272.73.
Evidently, the mystery woman received the winning ticket as a gift.
“A friend bought me that ticket,” she told UPI. “So I will certainly be sharing some with them.”
As for the rest of the money? The Australia resident plans to give some to her family, “but the rest I don’t know!” she said. “I’m still in shock and it will take some time to figure it out. I’m isolating at home at the moment so I will have plenty of time to think about it.”
