It’s hard to believe it’s already been several weeks since hand sanitizer was one of the most sought-out items in the nation. But shopping for hand sanitizer and other hand soaps probably isn’t going to halt anytime soon.
As people continue social distancing and careful hand washing, they are still looking to stock up on hand sanitizers. Luckily more and more brands are getting creative and releasing their own products. Skincare brand Peter Thomas Roth even created a new hand sanitizer that it’s never carried before.
Even though by Humankind has been specializing in sustainable personal care products since 2019, the company recently added a hand sanitizer to its collection — and the sales even support a good cause.
One of by Humankind’s main efforts is to help reduce single-use plastics, and the brand’s new hand sanitizer “bulk bottle” refills — which come in aluminum bottles (one of the most environmentally friendly materials) — closely aligns with that goal.
This new alcohol-based, plastic-free sanitizer comes in an eight-ounce bottle, which is enough to refill four pocket-size hand sanitizers, meaning you’re giving those travel-sized hand sanitizer bottles a new life by refilling and reusing them.

Since you’re most likely using hand sanitizer now more than ever, by Humankind’s product is formulated with extra hydrating ingredients — including hyaluronic acid to help prevent cracking while also still containing the required 65 percent ethyl alcohol recommended by the CDC.
The hand sanitizer is currently only available for preorder in two options, grapefruit and unscented, but it is guaranteed to ship before or by May 1. You can choose to select a one-time purchase, or you can subscribe, which means you’ll receive two bottles every 12 weeks, saving you 15 percent. Or if you plan to buy a three or four pack now, you can receive a 15 percent or 20 percent discount, respectively.
And while you wait for your new hand sanitizer to arrive, you’ll be happy to know that by Humankind is donating a portion of the proceeds from each purchase to the Robin Hood COVID-19 Relief Fund, which is providing emergency support to the New York City area.
