Season 1 of 1923 ended after just eight episodes, and fans of the Yellowstone prequel are definitely riled up. Let's start with the good news: Paramount+ has already confirmed that the show will return for a second season, so viewers won't be left hanging like they were with 1883. [Spoiler alert! If you haven't watched the season finale, you'll want to stop reading now.]
The biggest issue that fans had with the episode is the lack of resolution. The finale featured plenty of action (much of it very disturbing). Teonna (Aminah Nieves) and Pete (Cole Brings Plenty) continue to be on the run, Jacob's (Harrison Ford) financial woes deepen, and Elizabeth (Michelle Randolph) and Jack (Darren Mann) lose their baby.
But the center of the storyline focuses on Alex and Spencer's quest to return to Montana. As they continue on their journey, Spencer (Brandon Sklenar) and Alex (Julia Schlaepfer) encounter Alex's former fiance, Arthur (Rafe Soule), on the ship. Spencer and Arthur fight, and then Arthur challenges Spencer to a duel, which ends in Arthur being thrown overboard. Spencer is thrown in the brig and then taken off the ship, resulting in a painful separation for the couple, but, most importantly, they still haven't made it back to Montana.
The official 1923 account posted photos of the cast on Instagram and wrote, "It's here! The season finale of #1923TV is streaming NOW on @ParamountPlus. #ParamountPlus" Fans hit the comments section to talk about the episode.
"Is anybody else tired of all these short seasons? I love the stories, but I’m so frustrated with nothing to watch anymore! ????"
"Wait! What? NO NO NO! What the hell? It just got started!"
"Wait! It’s the season finale and Spencer still hasn’t gotten to Montana??! There has to be a season 2 of this!!!"
"Such short season ?? Spencer hasn’t even made to Montana yet!! ??"
"Wait, that was the finale?"
"I’m. So. Mad. After. This. Episode. The. End."
"Ohh my gosh!!! This last episode had me happy sad and then afraid ??"
Paramount+ has not yet announced when the show will return, and we're eagerly awaiting the second half of Yellowstone, which is due in the summer. Until then, we'll be searching for other shows like Yellowstone to pass the time.
