The Lowcountry area of Hilton Head Island took first place.

The fishing around the island is reportedly one of the best areas in the state, and some of the best is for fish such as redfish, tarpon, cobia, bass, red snapper, sheepshead, sea trout and various shark species, according to hiltonhead.com.

Hilton Head Island took the top spot after it received 49 out of 60 total possible points. In two out of the six categories, the island received the full 10 points, which included the number of guides with the Angler’s Choice Award as well as the number of bookings, detailed FishingBooker.
