Blue Bell Creameries Recalls Even More Ice Cream Due To Listeria Risk

Blue Bell Creameries is recalling even more of its ice cream products.

The company announced this week that pints of its banana pudding ice cream produced at its plant in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes. Other ice cream products that were produced on the same production line as the banana pudding ice cream are also being recalled.

This comes less than a month after Blue Bell recalled a number of ice cream bars after they were linked to potential cases of the food-borne illness listeriosis, which is caused by the Listeria bacteria.

While no illnesses have been reported linked to Blue Bell’s latest recall, the ice cream is still being recalled due to possible risk. The affected products include those made on the affected production line between Feb. 12 and March 27, 2015, with a code date ending in S or T.

The recalled products include pints of banana pudding, butter crunch, mint chocolate chip, cookies ‘n cream, and homemade vanilla ice cream, as well as certain pints and quarts of rainbow, orange and mixed berry sherbet. For the full list of affected products, go here.

Listeria infection leads to symptoms of diarrhea, muscle ache, fever, and chills, and can be especially dangerous for certain groups, such as the elderly, pregnant women, and people with lowered immune systems.
