Zhang Yimou in Talks to Direct Universal’s ‘The Parsifal Mosaic’

“Hero” and “House of a Flying Daggers” helmer Zhang Yimou is in talks to helm the adaptation of Robert Ludlum’s “The Parsifal Mosaic” for Universal Pictures.
Imagine Entertainment’s Brian Grazer will produce along with Captivate Entertainment’s Ben Smith and Jeffrey Weiner. Imagine Entertainment’s Erica Huggins will serve as executive producer.
Story follows a retired CIA operative who gets back in the game when he discovers that the woman he loved who he thought was killed is still alive.
A draft of the screenplay was written by David Self.
Co-president of production Peter Cramer and director of development Jay Polidoro will oversee the project for the studio.
If a deal is made, the film would be Yimou’s domestic debut having previously worked on “Hero” and “House of Flying Daggers” in China. He is repped by CAA and managers Mo Zhang and Catherine Pang.
Deadline Hollywood was the first to report the news.
