Zendaya's Surprise Coachella Performance Has Me Ready For More 'Euphoria'
Leave it to Zendaya to become the most-discussed act at Coachella. Over the weekend, the actress and singer surprised fans at Labrinth’s set, performing two songs from Euphoria.
Dressed in a pink mini dress and knee-high boots, Zendaya sauntered on stage to the audience’s delight. She kicked off her performance with the song “I’m Tired,” a soulful track that she wrote with Labrinth for Season Two of Euphoria. At last year’s Emmy Awards, “I’m Tired” received a nomination in the Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics category, along with another Euphoria track, “Elliot’s Song,” which Zendaya co-wrote with Dominick Fike. After her emotional performance, Coleman kicked things into high gear with a revved-up version of “All for Us,” the unofficial theme song for Euphoria that was featured in the Season One finale. After Coleman left, Labrinth surprised fans once again—and brought out SIA and Maddy Ziegler for the track, “Thunderclouds.”
Zendaya’s appearance marked her first time performing live music in seven years. Later that evening, she expressed her gratitude for the experience on Instagram. “I just wanna say thank you again I have never heard screaming like that in my entire life,” she said. “As soon as I turned the corner, I couldn’t hear anything but you guys. Thank you all for welcoming me back on stage with open arms.”
The last time Zendaya released music was a decade ago, when she dropped her self-titled album. Working on Euphoria has granted the star the opportunity to explore that passion again. After “All For Us” released in 2022, she tweeted, “I stepped away from music quite a while ago, for a number of reasons, but I still really love it, so the kindness and support I’ve received the past few days for just a little tiny toe-dip back into some music means the absolute world to me.”
If we’re lucky, we may get to hear another Zendaya original in Season Three of Euphoria. After a truly explosive finale, the show was greenlit for another round. The series follows Rue, a recovering teenage drug addict who is played by Zendaya. Hopefully, we can see Rue's road to recovery continue sometime next year.
