YSL RICO Trial To Continue Following YSL Polo Murder Conviction
Another layer was added to the ongoing YSL RICO trial this week. YSL Polo was convicted of a murder he committed in January 2020.
The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports that the Atlanta rapper was caught on camera shooting and killing Xavier Arlandor Turner at Old National Village Discount Mall in College Park, Ga. He was recently found guilty in that case which adds to his existing life sentence for another murder from 2019. The rapper, real name Cordarius Dorsey, was denied parole in that case. His sentence for Turner’s murder has not yet been decided, but prosecutors reportedly believe that he will be handed another life sentence.
This comes just a week after YSL Polo was seen “looking crazy” while in court. A video showed him “jerking” his head and arms in a weird manner while Brian Steel, Young Thug’s attorney, is visibly confused. Check out the video below.
As a result of YSL Polo’s odd behavior on Aug. 30, Brian Steel requested that he be separated from the other YSL defendants so Young Thug could receive a fair trial. “Jeffery Williams, by and through undersigned counsel, hereby files this motion to Sever Parties in the above-referenced case,” the motion read. “In support of this Motion, Mr. Williams shows as follows. Mr. Williams is innocent of all charges in the above-referenced indictment. Mr. Dorsey, a co-indictee, has displayed unprofessional and unacceptable conduct in Court, in the presence of this Honorable Court, as announced on the Record on Thursday, August 31, 2023.”
“Based upon information and belief, during a separate trial, Mr. Dorsey, using movements with his hands, threatened the prosecutors as well as the jurors,” the motion continued, addressing Polo’s behavior. “Mr. Williams has filed a Demand for Speedy Trial and will not upset that Demand for Speedy Trial. However, Mr. Williams asks this Honorable Court to exercise its discretion and sever Mr. Dorsey so that Mr. Williams’ Constitutional right to a fair trial is not prejudiced.”
Jury selection for the YSL RICO case was put on hold while YSL Polo’s murder case was handled. There is no set date for discovery to resume, but it is expected to restart in the near future.
