The Young and the Restless Pays Tribute to the Late Billy Miller — WATCH
CBS’ The Young and the Restless today paid tribute to the late Billy Miller, who from 2008-2014 filled the role of Billy Abbott — and earned no fewer that three Daytime Emmys along the way.
Thursday’s episode of the long-running daytime serial ended with a small, smile-filled “In Loving Memory” montage of Miller’s run as Billy, closing with a black-and-white still and “1979-2023.” (Watch the segment below.)

As reported over the weekend, Miller — whose daytime-TV credits also included ABC’s All My Children and General Hospital — died on Sept. 15, at age 43, following a lengthy battle with bipolar disorder.
In a statement to Soap Opera Digest, Miller’s mother Patricia said that “my beautiful son BJ… fought a long hard valiant battle with bipolar depression for years. He did everything he could to control the disease. He loved his family, his friends and his fans but in the end the disease won the fight and he surrendered his life.”

Miller made his daytime-TV debut in 2007 when he joined the AMC cast as Richie Novak. A two-year stint on the ABC soap paved the way for his breakout role as Y&R‘s Billy Abbott. Though the fourth actor to play that role, Miller unarguably made it his own, collecting two Daytime Emmys for Outstanding Supporting Actor and one for Outstanding Lead Actor.
In 2014, Miller jumped to GH, where he took over the role of Jason Morgan/Drew Cain from Steve Burton; he left that ABC soap in 2019.
