Yes, chef: ‘The Bear’ tops TV shows once again with 5 Golden Globes nominations after last year’s domination
Golden Globes voters said “yes, chef” to Season 3 of “The Bear” despite the polarizing response to the show in online circles.
After dominating last year with five 2024 Golden Globes nominations, including Best Comedy Series, Best TV Comedy Actor for Jeremy Allen White, Best TV Comedy Actress for Ayo Edebiri, Best TV Supporting Actor for Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Best TV Supporting Actress for Abby Elliott, the FX comedy series received the same five Golden Globe Award nominations on Monday — but with Emmy winner Liza Colon-Zayas replacing Elliott in the supporting actress lineup.

It’s a bit of a surprise for the series even though the show won three Golden Globes at the 2024 ceremony earlier this year: Best Comedy Series, Best TV Comedy Actor for White, and Best TV Comedy Actress for Edebiri. The Golden Globe wins were for the show’s second season and came one week before the show’s first season dominated the 2023 Emmy Awards (which were delayed to 2024 due to last year’s writers’ and actors’ strikes).
But a lot can change over 12 months. Season 3 of “The Bear” dropped in June to a polarizing response among fans and critics, and although the show’s second season was widely acclaimed and expected to dominate at the 2024 Emmys in September (much like Season 2 cleaned up at the 2024 Golden Globes), “The Bear” lost Best Comedy Series to “Hacks” in a shocking upset. The Emmys defeat anecdotally provided some awards voters with a chance to jump ship from the show, which has been criticized because it lacks traditional comedy beats. After winning four awards at the 2024 Critics Choice TV Awards for Season 2, “The Bear” Season 3 was snubbed in several categories at the 2025 Critics Choice TV Awards last week – including missing out on Best Comedy, Best Comedy Actor, and Best Comedy Actress. Only Colon-Zayas, an Emmy winner for Season 2 of the show, received recognition for Season 3 from the Critics Choice Awards.
But the Golden Globes Foundation found little to complain about with Season 3. “The Bear” led all shows with five nominations and topped “Hacks” with five nominations to three. The Emmy Award-winning Max comedy was cited three times by Globes voters: Best Comedy, Best TV Comedy Actress for Jean Smart, and Best TV Supporting Actress for Hannah Einbinder.
