Yelp's Top 100 Restaurants: Jacksonville restaurant makes annual list for 2023

Seven months after cracking the Top 10 in Yelp’s first-ever guide to the Top 100 restaurants in Florida, a Jacksonville Italian restaurant has made Yelp’s Top 100 U.S. Restaurants for 2023.

Catullo’s Italian, located at 1650-2 San Pablo Road S. in the city’s Intracoastal West neighborhood, is the only Northeast Florida restaurant to make Yelp’s annual list – and it’s one of just 13 from Florida on the list for 2023.

The restaurant comes in at No. 64 on the list.

In June 2022, Yelp ranked Catullo's at No. 10 on its list of top restaurants in Florida.

Located at the Walmart Neighborhood Market-anchored Village Shoppes of San Pablo, the restaurant comes from brothers Carl and Dave Catullo, who literally rolled out their Italian concept in 2016 with a food truck. Three years later they opened their first restaurant, serving fresh-from-scratch Italian cuisine using authentic family recipes, including ravioli, tortellini, lasagna and pappardelle.

Favorite dishes include Gnocchi Catullo, described as "fluffy little potato pasta pillows, cooked in our fresh sage and Calabrian chili alfredo sauce"; Chicken Capricciosa, described as the "closest thing you’re gonna get to anything “Parm” here!"; and Pear Fiocchi, made with egg pasta filled with fresh pear along with three kinds of Italian cheese topped with a cream sauce including caramelized pear, Gorgonzola and goat cheese and fried Prosciutto di Carpegna.

Other popular dishes, according to Yelpers, are Arancini, Creamy Chicken Pesto and Sea Scallop Risotto as well as desserts Limoncello Mascarpone Cake and Cannoli.

And some good news for the restaurant’s fans: the Catullo brothers are planning to open a second restaurant at Nocatee Town Center in Ponte Vedra Beach. The restaurant is planned to occupy a spot in the Publix-anchored retail center near Dick’s Wings and The Loop Pizza Grill. An opening date has not been announced.
