'Yellowstone' Fans Think They Know How Season 5 Will End
Calling all ranch hands and barrel racers: if the Yellowstone Season Five midseason finale tease isn’t a bluff, we’re in for quite a show. After dealing with some bacterial cattle diseases and throwing parties every week, the Duttons are finally ready to put the hoedown aside and throw down. When we return for Part Two of Yellowstone’s fifth season this summer, Governor John Dutton will be questioned for impeachment by his own son, Jamie— who also may or may not be attempting to also kill his sister. Phew!
A show like Yellowstone is impossible to predict—especially after the Season Three finale that left us thinking every single Dutton family member could've been dead—but that hasn’t stopped fans from trying. Who gets the ranch in the end? How long before another Dutton family member bites the dust? What was Kayce’s vision about? When will Luke Grimes’s new country song go No. 1 on the charts?! These are the questions we are dying to know, and hopefully ones the second half of Season Five can answer. So, until our favorite cowboy drama returns this summer, these are some of the most exciting theories floating around on the Internet’s great big think machine.
Jamie Gets the Ranch
Ever since the Season Four finale, the idea of Jamie getting the ranch at the conclusion of the series has been a popular fan theory on the Yellowstone subreddit. In a post titled "Jamie Will End Up With Everything in The End," Reddit user phattwoohie laid our their theories for the end of Yellowstone:
"Think about it for a minute and play it out in your head. Who do they always turn to when they need to be bailed out of a legal situation? Who knows all their secrets? Jamie is highly educated and extremely good with the law. He understands contracts, state/federal/local laws, environmental law, real estate law, tax law, etc. Jamie has the knowledge to eventually take it ALL! He will find some way to bind up that ranch and hold it over Beth's head. Whatever he schemes up, it will be ironclad, and they won't be able to do anything about it."
Jamie is certainly making his move in Season Five with the help of the dangerous Sarah Atwood from Market Equities. But could the villainous team-up end in his death instead?
Summer Higgins is Killed
While I can’t speak to who will end up with the Dutton Ranch in the end, I believe this theory about a possible Season Five finale death has some real legs. According to Reddit user PowSuperMom, Summer Higgins’s house arrest at the Dutton Ranch may end up being her ultimate downfall. After all, it’s not usually a good thing to become so associated with the Dutton Family. Most people who get that close either end up dead or branded into servitude. “With [Summer Higgins] being stuck there on house arrest, I feel this hit that’s coming is going to kill her thinking she’s Beth,” the Reddit user commented.
The theory predicts that if Jamie goes ahead with the hit against his sister, it’s possible that the hitman may accidentally mistake another blond like Summer Higgins for Beth. Many viewers this season have been questioning the purpose for Summer’s presence on the ranch this season, and this devastating mix-up could be the ultimate catalyst for the Dutton civil war—especially when Beth realizes that Jamie was trying to kill her.
Kayce’s Vision Will Decide the Fate of the Dutton Family
At the end of Season Four, Kayce Dutton went into the desert and had a vision about his future. He was presented with two unknown paths and was told that one day he would have to choose. While Yellowstone viewers are still unaware of what either path means, Kayce has revealed that one of the paths would mean “the end of us,” should he decide to take it. One Reddit user by the name of dynamix811, however, believes that they’ve figured out the vision’s larger implications.
“I think when the wolf/woman told him to look down the 2 paths and choose, one path showed him choosing the ranch/helping save his family during some season 5 drama but having to sacrifice his relationship with Monica in the process. The other path was to choose Monica/Tate over returning to his family but thereby perhaps dooming the future of the ranch/his family. Whichever path he chooses, the other relationship will be ended.”
Quite a spicy ending to Yellowstone—and a succinct explanation of Kayce’s internal fight throughout the entire series. However it all ends, we just hope the man can finally find some peace.
