Ye Says Kendrick Lamar’s Halftime Show Is His “Favorite Since Michael Jackson’s”
Despite Kanye West’s recent slew of problematic tweets, the rapper took to the platform to voice his feelings on Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl Halftime Show and actually had something positive to say.
“A few people been asking me ‘What did you think of the Kendrick Halftime Show?’ and I really loved the show. It was my favorite Halftime Show since the Michael Jackson era, which I kind of just barely remember, I just be seeing clips of it,” Ye explained.
He described K. Dot’s show as “super simple,” adding, “the flag was fresh. When they did [‘HUMBLE.’], the way people’s heads were moving. I was like, shook. This is like, super fresh. The man’s voice control and all that. And you know, of course they built up the controversy on whether he’s going to do [‘Not Like Us’].” Kendrick teased the song ahead of “luther,” but saved the Grammy-winning diss track as the last song of the night.

Ye admitted that he saw the mixed reactions online. “I saw people saying this is the worst Halftime Show and I’m just like ‘everybody I talked to in real life said this is the best Halftime Show,'” he said. He then went on to compare Drake to R. Kelly.
“Drake was almost like the new generation’s R. Kelly, the way R. Kelly had the radio smashes and all that. Then, the idea that was put out in the Kendrick song is what R. Kelly is locked up for,” West continued.
Kendrick made history as the first solo rapper to headline the Halftime Show. He was joined by SZA and had cameos from Mustard, Samuel L. Jackson, and Serena Williams.
Coincidentally, West dropped a new single, “Beauty and the Beast,” during Kendrick’s Super Bowl set. He was previously accused of attempting to steal Kendrick’s shine by The Breakfast Club host Charlamagne Tha God with his controversial tweets ahead of Sunday’s game.
