The WWE paid tribute to Eudy as well on social media: “WWE is saddened to learn that Sid Eudy has passed away. WWE extends its condolences to Eudy’s family, friends and fans.”
Eudy first rose to fame in the NWA in the late 1980s, with Sid Vicious becoming a member of Ric Flair’s vaunted stable known as the Four Horsemen. He then moved to the WWE (then the WWF) in 1991, turning heel and losing to Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania VII. After short stints with the WCW and the USWA, Eudy returned to the WWE in 1995, later changing his ring name to Sycho Sid and defeating Shawn Michaels to win the WWE Championship. (He lost the title and won it back a second time in 1997.)
After returning to the WCW in 1999, Eudy suffered a graphic leg injury two years later during a pay-per-view event, derailing his wrestling career and leaving him pondering retirement. He did later return to the ring, wrestling sporadically until his final match in 2017. He also appeared on the CBS reality show Big Brother in 2012, when his son Frank was a contestant.
