Woman Says She Doesn’t Mean To Steal, ‘It’s Just A Part Of My Mental Illness’

Courtney claims that a few years ago, she was diagnosed with bipolar and attention deficit disorders and says her life has been “very, very hard.”

“I refer to my illness as the devil because it’s destroyed everything,” she says. “I struggle with relationships, trust. I can’t keep a job. I haven’t been able to receive my high school diploma. I haven’t got my driver’s license.”

The 27-year-old also admits that she tells “a lot” of lies. “I lied about stealing, where I was going, drug use, taking money, taking my other family member’s medication,” she admits. “I don’t mean to steal; it’s just a part of my mental illness.”

Courtney says that her family “doesn’t get” her and treats her like the black sheep. “My mom thinks I use my illness as an excuse. My mom really gets on my nerves, and she triggered my bipolar. I feel like my dad’s so disappointed in me,” she says. “I want a relationship with my family, but they just need to give me a chance.”
