Willy Chavarria Drops New Tequila Don Julio Bottle Design, Just in Time for New York Fashion Week

The cavernous entrance hall of the Financial District building that housed J.P. Morgan in the 1920s may seem like a unique place for a New York Fashion Week show, but Willy Chavarria saw it as the perfect backdrop for his Spring-Summer 2025 collection “América.”

Chavarria, whose designs have been seen on stars like Billie Eilish and Becky G., kicked off the night with a cocktail hour, which included guests like Scream actress Melissa Barrera and content creator Desi Perkins. On the menu: bespoke specialty drinks with spirits poured from his very own newly launched Tequila Don Julio 70 A?ejo Cristalino Artist Edition bottle.
Out now, this is the first bottle collaboration between Chavarria and Don Julio. The designer said the Tequila Don Julio 70 A?ejo Cristalino is “such a chic and glamorous drink, I just felt like I wanted to do something with it.”

The Tequila Don Julio 70 A?ejo Cristalino Artist Edition bottle beautifully showcases Chavarria’s design sensibilities. Each intricate skull and rose is etched into the glass and accented with black paint. The Cristalino itself was aged for 18 months in American white oak barrels. It’s smooth enough for drinking straight, but it also beautifully enhances any cocktail recipe.
“In designing the bottles, we decided to do something that celebrates Dia de los Muertos, which is a Mexican holiday in October that is an amazing celebration of the dead,” says Chavarria. “It’s full of life and dancing and love and it’s really emotional, but also really beautiful — and this is just such a beautiful drink for celebrating.”
The show was certainly a celebration and a vehicle for Chavarria to communicate his vision of America. As guests entered the dimly lit hall to a huge American flag hanging from the center of the runway, their seats greeted them with mini Constitutions and voting sticker-shaped papers with “Willy Says Vote” emblazoned in red, white, and blue.
As the lights illuminated the runway, Yahritza y Su Esencia opened the show with a song. The band, which rose to fame on TikTok and Instagram, was nominated for Best New Artist at the Latin Grammy Awards in 2022. Chavarria has watched their ascent as a devoted fan, but he soon became fixated on the idea of having them perform at one of his shows.
“I was like, I’ve got to meet them — I’ve got to see if I can make this happen,” he says. He already knew he wanted them to sing “Querida” by Juan Gabriel, which is a classic anthem about heartbreak. “We bought the rights and they redid it, and we’re releasing the track on Columbia, which is their record label,” Chavarria says.
Alongside this Juan Gabriel track is a song entitled “Un Inmigrante,” which directly translates to “an immigrant.” Chavarria says “it is the story of the show.” As the band walked off, somber piano music began to flow out of the speakers as models walked the runway in looks reminiscent of workers’ uniforms (think: tailored short-sleeved button-downs complemented by elongated collars, fresh, bright linen sets, and Victorian-inspired jackets). One crisp, all-white look was a part of the Tequila Don Julio x Willy Chavarria linen capsule collection, which was also a part of Chavarria’s new collaboration with the Don Julio brand.
For the final surprise of the evening, Chavarria treated the crowd to a first look at his collaboration with Adidas Originals, which features everything from oversized jerseys to balloon-sleeved tracksuits in neon hues. Olympic medalist Noah Lyles rounded up the runway in white track shorts and an arm sleeve. And as the show closed, Chavarria walked out in an ACLU sweatshirt flanked by all of his models as the audience cheered.
