Why the Rest of the ‘Bridgerton’ Cast Isn’t at the Emmys With Nicola Coughlan and Jonathan Bailey

Bridgerton is represented at tonight’s Emmys, with Nicola Coughlan serving as a presenter during the show. Jonathan Bailey has a nomination—but not for his work on the Netflix series. Jonathan is instead up for Best Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for his work in Fellow Travelers.

So why isn’t anyone else from Bridgerton’s third season there? The show isn’t nominated for any awards this year. To be eligible for the 2024 Emmys, a show must air at least six episodes by May 31, 2024, per Deadline. The first part of Bridgerton’s third season came out on May 16 and was only four episodes, so it’s two episodes short of that requirement. That means the cast will likely be at next year’s Emmys representing the show.

Production is already beginning on the show’s fourth season. Netflix recently revealed Yerin Ha will play Benedict’s love interest, Sophie. She spoke to Netflix’s Tudum about what attracted her to the role. “What drew me to Sophie was that she immediately has obstacles—something that she constantly has to overcome,” Ha said. “Whether it’s this battle around social status or trying to hide her feelings from Benedict.”

“There’s this theme with masks that was running throughout all of my audition scenes,” she added. “When does Sophie put on this mask to cover her emotions? Or vice versa, when does she take it off and when does she soften up? Playing with those [questions] is just really fun.”
