Created by Mike White, The White Lotus is set at the title chain of luxury hotels and explores the various conflicts of its guests and staff. The first season was set in Hawaii and earned 10 Emmys out of 20 nominations in 2022. Among those awards it claimed were Best Limited Series, Best Movie/Limited Supporting Actor (Murray Bartlett), and Best Movie/Limited Supporting Actress (Jennifer Coolidge). Season 2 brought Coolidge to Sicily; because it featured a continuing character from Season 1, the show was forced to switch to drama series races. Nevertheless, it won five Emmys out of 23 nominations in 2023.

Season 3 is set in Thailand and features Emmy nominee Natasha Rothwell, reprising her role as spa manager Belinda Lindsey from Season 1. The show is otherwise populated by new actors and characters, including a trio of longtime friends on a girls’ trip (Leslie Bibb, Carrie Coon, and Michelle Monaghan). There’s also Jason Isaacs, as a wealthy businessman who may be on the verge of losing everything. Walton Goggins plays a man traveling with his much younger girlfriend (Aimee Lou Wood). The main cast are Sarah Catherine Hook, Lalisa Manobal, Sam Nivola, Lek Patravadi, Parker Posey, Patrick Schwarzenegger, and Tayme Thapthimthong.
The new episodes haven’t started airing yet, but HBO has already renewed the popular series for a fourth season. Time will tell who will leave Thailand alive and potentially continue their story at the next resort.
