Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton starred in the original film, Twister, which was released on May 10, 1996, and earned $495 million globally. Powell recently revealed that he keeps Paxton’s memory alive by using an acting trick that the late actor shared with him when they starred together in Red Wing.
“As an actor, sometimes you have to shoot outdoors and you’re kind of squinting and whatnot and he taught me this trick that if you close your eyes and you look up at the sun, it warms your eyes up to the sun and you can open your eyes,” Powell shared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. “So while we were shooting Twisters, I was shooting outdoors the whole time so I’d used that trick my entire career since meeting Bill. And on Twisters I really felt like every time I closed my eyes, I got to think of Bill which was great.”
Edgar-Jones has been whipping up a style storm for her press tour looks on Twisters. The British actress works with celebrity stylist Dani Michelle, who has dressed the star in a backless ivory Gucci gown for the film’s red carpet premiere in Los Angeles, a dark cutout Coperni dress for Twisters‘ Seoul event and a structured gown by Vivienne Westwood for the London premiere, to name just a few.

Twisters: Storyline, Plot, Cast
Directed by Lee Isaac Chung (Minari), Twisters stars Glen Powell as YouTube storm chaser Tyler Owens and Daisy Edgar-Jones as meteorologist Kate Cooper. After a tragic college research experiment five years prior, Oklahoma-bred Kate leaves the storm-chasing life behind for a weather-tracking desk job in New York City. The film is rated PG-13 with a run time of two hours and three minutes. The cast includes Brandon Perea, Maura Tierney, Sasha Lane, Harry Hadden-Paton, David Corenswet, Tunde Adebimpe and Katy O’Brian.
