Was Law & Order: Organized Crime Cancelled?
It’s a good news, bad news situation. The good news is that Law & Order: Organized Crime was not cancelled. It will return for a fifth season. However, Season 5 won’t premiere with the other Law & Order shows — and it won’t air on NBC at all.
For those Law & Order: Organized Crime fans who are slightly confused, you’re not alone! NBC revealed that Organized Crime will exclusively be airing on Peacock with 10 episodes in Season 5. There’s some bad news, however: no premiere date has been set.
Season 4 ended with a cliffhanger as “the youngest of the Stabler brothers found himself with a briefcase full of a deadly Russian nerve agent handcuffed to his wrist,” NBC Insider reported. “And as he headed off aboard the private jet of criminal mastermind Julian Emery (Thomas Payne), his cover may already have been blown.” Will Joe Stabler Jr. survive?
In a May 10 interview with TVLine, Jeff Bader, President of Program Planning Strategy at NBCUniversal Entertainment discussed Organized Crime’s move to the streaming platform. “Organized Crime is a VERY successful show; this isn’t a show that was on the bubble,” Bader explained. “It’s a show that works across the board, and it’s very, very strong on streaming. [Moving Season 5 to Peacock] is a win-win for us — 80% of its viewing isn’t in the time period where we schedule it, it’s delayed on Peacock, so it just made sense to move that to free up the time period.”
Organized Crime’s former 10 p.m. ET Thursday slot is now be occupied by Mark-Paul Gosselaar’s Found in its second season.
More: Why did Elliot Stabler leave Law & Order: SVU?
So, when does Law & Order: Organized Crime come to Peacock? In a Reddit discussion about OC Season 5, fans discussed the move to streaming. One fan noted, “No rumors other than 2025. I’d bet money that it drops in January after the holiday break.” Another fan shared a vague release date of “Early 2025.”
A third Organized Crime fan noted, “All I know is that it’s 2025, But I would say most likely it would be finishing about the same time as SVU.”
One fan wasn’t happy with the move at all, commenting, “It kills me that it’s not starting on Thursday with the others.”
An article titled “Fall TV Preview: NBC Shows Streaming on Peacock This Season” posted on the Peacock blog on September 17 confirmed a 2025 premiere. “While Organized Crime will be returning in 2025, both Law & Order and SVU are streaming this fall with heavy-hitting investigations and court battles week after week.”
Law & Order: Organized Crime is available to stream on Peacock.
