Everyone who’s a part of this massive commemoration made their way to the Big Apple this past Friday, February 14, where they kicked off the weekend with a one-of-a-kind concert experience befitting the long musical legacy of “Saturday Night Live.” Entitled, “SNL50: The Homecoming Concert,” the star-studded showcase was comprised of some of the best musical acts ever to grace the Studio 8H stage. From a Tom Petty tribute by Eddie Vedder to a duet between Robyn and David Byrne, the concert offered a wide array of iconic moments, including closing sets by Cher and Jack White that had everyone in attendance losing their minds (especially Kevin Costner).
Perhaps even more thrilling than the actual musical talent on display was the comedic force brought to bear by Andy Samberg and The Lonely Island, as well as Will Ferrell and Ana Gasteyer reprising their musical educators Bobbi and Marty Mohan-Culp. The latter duo brought the house down with their take on Kendrick Lamar’s diss track “Not Like Us.”
