Warner Bros, Pathé Strike U.K. Distribution Deal K.J. Yossman

Warner Bros. Entertainment U.K. (WBEUK) is set to distribute Pathé’s films across the U.K. and Ireland.
The companies have struck a deal that will come into effect on June 30. The first Pathé film to be distributed by WBEUK will be the Venice Film Festival-premiering “The Duke,” starring Jim Broadbent and Helen Mirren, which is released on Sept. 3. The film is directed by Roger Michell.

The distribution alliance was revealed Monday by Cameron McCracken, managing director of Pathé UK and Polly Cochrane, country manager for Warner Media U.K. and Ireland. WBEUK is part of WarnerMedia.
“We are delighted to renew our alliance with Warner Bros, 10 years since we last partnered with them on our U.K. releases. As with our past distribution partnerships, we will continue to manage the whole filmmaking and distribution process for our titles, providing a bespoke service to our filmmakers whilst also allowing them to benefit from studio backing,” said McCracken.
Cochrane added: “Warner Bros. first formed a partnership with Pathé in 2009. We are delighted to be renewing our strategic alliance to bring Pathé’s outstanding theatrical slate of high quality, critically acclaimed British films to our U.K. and Irish audiences both in cinemas and across other platforms and channels.”
Pathé has produced and/or distributed films including “The Queen,” “Slumdog Millionaire” and “Selma”. The new alliance will be limited to the U.K. and Ireland and will not extend to Pathé France. Pathé U.K. will also continue to act as an international sales agents for its own productions and third-party titles.
