A 'Voice' first as a contestant mysteriously drops out of the competition
It was a first on The Voice on Tuesday night when one contestant had to sing by herself in the Battle Rounds. Carson Daly announced, “From Team Kelly, Alexa Cappelli was paired with Hannah Goebel, but, unfortunately, Hannah Goebel had to leave us for personal reasons.”
NBC representatives for The Voice confirmed to Yahoo Entertainment that Alexa performed her portion of “Pray” solo for the studio audience and advanced (by default) to the Knockout Rounds but declined to elaborate on the reasons for Hannah’s departure. As of this writing, Hannah has not posted any updates on social media about her Voice experience.
It’s really too bad, because that girl can sing! In fact, she was so good during the Blind Auditions that Kelly Clarkson used her only block to keep Hannah from picking Alicia Keys as her coach. The move worked out for Kelly, who ended up in that role. Unfortunately, Hannah had to cut her Voice journey short. We hope she’s OK and returns to singing soon.
As for Alexa, she automatically moved onto the Knockout Rounds and got some words of encouragement from the coaches. Kelly told her, “You’re an insane singer, and I cannot wait to see what you do next.”
The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on NBC. Watch clips and full episodes of The Voice for free on Yahoo View.
