Video Premiere: Happy Birthday, Sam Cooke!

Having recently celebrated Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and in keeping with the theme of progress and inclusion, ABKCO Records has prepared a lyric video for Sam Cooke’s iconic 1964 song “A Change Is Gonna Come.“

Yahoo Music is pleased to premiere this special video on Jan. 22, which would have been Cooke’s 85th birthday.

Cooke wrote "A Change is Gonna Come” based on his personal events and struggles with prejudice during the midcentury era in the United States. The song was adopted as an anthem by the American Civil Rights Movement, and was selected for preservation in the Library of Congress in 2007. Although he died at just 33, Cooke saw 30 Top 40-charting hits during his short but highly prolific career.
