Victoria Justice is the latest celebrity to participate in the platform sandals trend, taking to the streets of New York City in a gold pair while running to promote her newest single, “Down.”

Teaming her statement-making footwear with an elegant blue minidress, sunglasses and gold earrings that effortlessly matched her footwear, the shoes featured a sleek gold finish, and was complimented by a strappy design in the ankle that locked her feet in place. The region of the shoe consisted of a thick platform toe box estimated around the 2-inch mark in height. The model was rounded out by a sky-high heel ranging between 4 to 5 inches, that elongated her legs. The general thickness of the heel was one that provided an optimal amount of support and comfort as she walked around the city.

Platform heels with an edgy design have become a popular choice amongst celebrities for the summer season, with many high-profile names such as Salma Hayek and Kate Beckinsale engaging in the trend. Justice herself has worn the platform sandals look on a number of occasions, including the No. 1 BBMA’s party ahead of the Billboard Music Awards in December 2023.

For that event in Los Angeles, the actress showcased a pair of platforms featuring smooth black suede uppers with thick platform soles, thin ankle straps, and crossed toe straps for added stability. The heel size of those particular shoes also clocked in between 4 to 5 inches and boasted thick-soled bases for added height and balance.

Platform sandals feature an elevated sole and typically a high heel of 4 inches or higher. The platformed construction helps compensate for the heel’s height, allowing for more height than a traditional pump without any added discomfort. In fact, if comfort is a concern, some experts recommend that you maintain a heel high of no more than 3 inches by subtracting the height of the platform from the heel. For instance, if you’re wearing a 3.75-inch heel, your platform should be .75 inches.

Considered to be a more comfortable choice than stilettos due to their lightly padded midsole and elevated nature, brands like Versace and Pleaser have gone all-in on rolling out the model for the remainder of 2024.
