Twihards rejoice!
Fans of author Stephanie Meyer's Twilight saga can get ready to take a trip back to the sleepy town of Forks, Washington. On Sept. 4, Variety reported that Meyer's Midnight Sun novel will be adapted into an animated series for Netflix.
The outlet previously confirmed in April 2023 that the project was in early development with Lionsgate Television and Michael Burns, Vice Chairman of Lionsgate, announced that the series would be animated in March 2024.

Midnight Sun, released in 2020, follows the story of Meyer's first novel of the beloved book series, Twilight, told from Edward Cullen's perspective.
The saga follows teenage human Bella, who falls in love with fellow classmate and vampire, Edward. Heartbreak and carnage ensue as she falls deeper into the fantastic vampire world where vampires sparkle in daylight and battle werewolves (and each other).
Following a 12-year hold, Midnight Sun was finally released after an early draft was leaked online, according to Publishers Weekly.
"I hope this book gives my readers a little pleasure to anticipate and, after it arrives, a chance to live in an imaginary world for a while," Meyer wrote in a statement about book's release at the time. "I can’t express how much I appreciate the patience of my readers, and their support over the years it took to finish Midnight Sun."
In its first week on sale, Midnight Sun sold more than 1 million copies, echoing how fans have remained devoted to Meyer's books and vampire universe. The series was turned into five movies and Twilight, the 2008 film, grossed more than $393 million worldwide. Kristen Stewart (Bella Swan), Robert Pattinson (Edward Cullen) and Taylor Lautner (Jacob Black) were among the film franchise's stars.
Meyer previously announced that she intended to write two more books to add to her bestselling vampire series.

"There are two more books I think in the world that I want to write. I have got them outlined and a chapter written I think of the first one, so I know it's there," she said during a promotional event in August 2020, according to USA Today. "I am not ready to do that right now, I want to do something brand new"
"For me, a lot of the joy of writing comes from creating and I really want to do a new world and new rules and new mythology," she added. "Mythology is kind of my thing."
