TV crime drama pilot with fake guns to be filmed Saturday in Norwich
Oct. 13—NORWICH — Don't be surprised or alarmed to see a buzz of activity in the front and rear of Otis Library Saturday afternoon, as the Main Street location will be used to film scenes of a pilot for a television crime drama, including a SWAT team with fake weapons at the rear of the building.
Library Executive Director Cathy Special said Friday she wanted to alert city leaders and the public that they might see actors with guns and a flurry of activity at the library Saturday after its 2 p.m. closing time. She said she allowed the filming after hours to avoid the need to alert staff and patrons in the library that day.
Bill Thibeault, executive producer of the TV pilot, "RAT," created by Chis Goodenough's Outtake Pictures LLC of Jewett City, said Otis is one of three eastern Connecticut locations where filming will take place Saturday. The group will start with the filming of an interrogation scene in Central Village, followed by a scene at Griswold Middle School at 12:30 p.m.
Goodenough posted on the Facebook page for "RAT" that several scenes will be filmed at Otis and the adjacent parking lot Saturday from about 2:30 to 5 p.m.
"During this time, there will be a number of NON-FUNCTIONING/NON-FIRING facsimile weapons on a set," Goodenough posted on the Facebook page.
Thibeault said one scene will have the leading actress working at a library computer station and Thibeault at another computer station, when a SWAT team bursts in to arrest Thibeault, who said he is innocent of the crime.
