Mama Hue
Formerly Viet Bowl, new ownership rebranded the restaurant and opened Mama Hue in October. The restaurant still serves traditional Vietnamese cuisine. Menu items include pho — with proteins including brisket, beef meatballs, chicken, shrimp, tofu, steak, tendon and tripe. Other entrees feature noodle or rice bowls and pad Thai. Management did not respond to multiple requests for information.

La Bamba Mexican Food and Store
La Bamba Mexican Food and Store in Vero Beach opened over the summer. The restaurant serves traditional Mexican fare for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Menu items feature tacos, tortas, burritos, quesadillas, gorditas, tostadas and more. Protein options include pork (fried or marinated), chicken, shredded beef, steak and even tongue. The kitchen closes at 8 p.m. Monday to Saturday and 5 p.m. on Sunday, but the restaurant stays open until 9 p.m. daily to serve traditional Mexican ice cream. Management could not be reached for comment.

Native New Yorker
Native New Yorker in Port St. Lucie aims to be residents' go-to neighborhood cafe and deli, catering to all meat lovers. The restaurant features subs, sandwiches, burgers and more in addition to meats and cheeses by the pound. Menu items features New York staple sandwiches including the pastrami ($7.99), with Swiss cheese, mustard and grilled onions on rye bread; the Italian ham ($10.99), with capicola, salami, pepperoni, lettuce, tomato, onion and oil and vinegar; or The Rachel ($8.99), with pastrami, Swiss cheese, coleslaw and Russian dressing on rye bread. Diners have the option to build their own burger or chicken sandwich, too, customizable with various breads, cheeses and toppings. Vegetarian-friendly options are also available including the Beyond Burger, turkey burger, quesadillas and salads. Meats available by the pound include pastrami, corned beef, capicola, ham, roast beef, pepperoni; and American, Swiss and provolone cheese.

Dale Arepa Bar & Healthy Bistro
This is the second location for husband-and-wife owners Rens and Sandra Leijtens, who debuted their Port St. Lucie location Oct. 15. Dale Arepa Bar & Healthy Bistro serves traditional Venezuelan cuisine in addition to healthier options such as juices, smoothies and protein shakes for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The most popular menu items so far have been the arepas (staring at $8.50), with the choice of cornmeal or oatmeal and varying proteins including beef, egg, ham, chicken, tuna salad or black beans; the cachapas (starting at $9.50), corn dough pancakes with soft white cheese; and the empanadas ($3.50 each). Healthier options include acai bowls, fruit smoothies and hemp and CBD-infused shakes such as CB-Dale — with almond milk, peanut butter, banana, cinnamon, CBD tincture and vanilla flavored, organic hemp seed protein powder. The Leijtens family wanted to combine traditional Venezuelan dishes with healthier options to encourage diners to maintain a balanced diet while also enjoying Venezuelan cuisine. Dale Arepa Bar & Healthy Bistro also has a location in Miami and hopes to have a grand opening celebration for the Port St. Lucie storefront on Nov. 15.

Miyuki Sushi & Thai
Miyuki Sushi & Thai in Port St. Lucie serves a variety of Japanese cuisine. An extensive menu features raw or cooked sushi rolls; curry; katsu; sashimi; hibachi; fried rice; bento boxes and more. Vegetarian options are also available. Management did not respond to multiple requests for information.

Island Root Kava Bar
This is the third Treasure Coast location for Island Root Kava Bar, which also has storefronts in Stuart, Jensen Beach, and Palm Beach and Brevard counties. The bar's newest Port St. Lucie location had a grand opening celebration on Oct. 16. Kava is a traditional South Pacific drink made out of a pepper plant root that is ground down and served cold, often in a coconut shell, that leaves people feeling relaxed and even a little euphoric after drinking it. Island Root Kava Bar offers kava, kratom, kombucha, coffee and botanical teas in addition to a few food items for diners to snack on. The bar is open late daily, and hopes patrons sit back, relax and don't feel rushed.

Pastaio Handmade Pasta & Pizza
Husband-and-wife owners Joanna and Pasquale Lamarra expanded their family's Port St. Lucie restaurant, opening a second Palm City location Oct. 22. Pastaio Handmade Pasta & Pizza serves traditional Italian eats. Popular menu items so far have been the homemade meatballs ($13.95), slow cooked in "Sunday sauce" with a dollop of ricotta and herbs; and the steak pizzaiola ($28.95), a New York strip with peppers, onions, mixed mushrooms, tomatoes, mozzarella with choice of side. The various handmade pastas are always a fan-favorite, the Lamarras said. Options include classics such as lasagna ($18.95), ravioli formaggi ($16.95) and spaghetti carbonara ($16.95). The Lamarras hope Pastaio will act as a "family table" for residents who can gather and enjoy comfort food together. For now, the restaurant is open for dinner only. The couple hopes to add lunch hours in December.

Svens Eatery
Formerly Courtney's Burgers, longtime customers Clause Hobbs and Svenja Werth bought the storefront in hopes of continuing to bring Hobe Sound residents a fast-and-easy neighborhood cafe. Svens Eatery serves American fare for breakfast, lunch and dinner with some German-inspired dishes. Popular menu items so far have included the Stuffed Burger ($14.95), two patties stuffed with two toppings of the diners' choice inside the burger; the Farm House Hash ($10.49), home fries toped with mushrooms, baby spinach, roasted tomatoes, kielbasa, Swiss cheese and two eggs any style; and the schnitzel sandwich ($13.59), on a pretzel bun with remoulade. Werth added her personal favorites feature appetizers such as the macaroni and cheese bites and jumbo soft pretzel (both $7.99). There's something on the menu for everyone, Werth said, with a variety of options including salads, wraps, sandwiches, ice cream and breakfast served all day.

Sweet Smoke Southern Kitchen
Formerly Bono's Pit Bar-B-Q, owners John and Margie Stiburek rebranded the restaurant and reopened it Sept. 27, debuting a new look and menu. Sweet Smoke Southern Kitchen serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and specializes in classic comfort foods. Menu items feature traditional BBQ platters including brisket, chicken, pork, baby back ribs, spare ribs and smoked turkey. Southern-inspired entrees such as chicken and waffles or bayou catfish are also available. The restaurants offers a drive-thru for diners on-the-go. Management did not respond to multiple requests for information.
