Tony Danza Talks His Past Romance with Costar Marilu Henner as “Taxi ”Cast Reunites on “The View ”(Exclusive)
The actor described Henner as his first "Hollywood girlfriend" during the interview celebrating the beloved show's 45th anniversary
If Tony Danza recalls one thing about dating Marilu Henner while filming Taxi, it's her impressive memory.
The actor, 72, discussed his relationship with Henner, 71, during the Taxi cast reunion, which is set to air Monday on The View. Former costars Carol Kane, Danny DeVito, Christopher Lloyd and Judd Hirsch were also present for the get together honoring the beloved show's 45th anniversary.
Danza, who has previously referred to Henner as his first "Hollywood girlfriend," recalled the time he spent with her.
"I walked in and I saw six guys and her. Even if it wasn't six guys, it would have been her," he joked. "The problem is you don't want your girlfriend to have a great memory. ... 'Don't you remember?' Of course she does! She remembers everything, and so it's just not something you want."
While Danza and Henner's relationship didn't last, the two stayed close friends.
"We talk all the time," she told PEOPLE of Danza in 2022. "Sometimes when a relationship ends, it's hard not to look back and think, 'I'd like to stay close.' I never stopped caring about people I once loved."
As for the actress' sharp memory, Danza wasn't kidding. Henner is gifted with Highly Superior Autobiographical Memory, or HSAM, which is the extremely rare ability for a person to remember specifically what they did on any given date.
"It's like having Google in your brain. You can always find things," she told the Today show in 2017.
This isn't the first time Danza and Henner have waxed nostalgia regarding Taxi. Danza revealed at the Power Book III: Raising Kanan premiere in November that the cast has reconnected on Zoom every month for the last "three, four years." They also see each other in person often.
“Danny [DeVito] and Marilu were here doing a play in New York. Chris was in town. Carol [Kane] lives here so I see her a lot. Judd [Hirsch], is the most energetic ... I don't know how old he is," Danza said then. "He's incredible. In fact, he put together the get together on The View.”

The View co-host Whoopi Goldberg previously teased the news, too, revealing that Hirsch called her to inquire about a slot on the daytime talk show.
“He called, he said listen, we are all gonna be in town. It’s the 45th anniversary, and we’re all in town because we’re seeing Danny’s show on Broadway. Could you get us on The View? We should get on The View,” Goldberg said on an episode of The View: Behind the Table podcast.
According to Goldberg, the reunion segment has already been filmed on a Taxi-themed set with Hirsch, Danza, Henner, DeVito, Kane and Lloyd.
“We do really fun stuff on this show. It seems sometimes, I think to us, because we talk about a lot of things going on in the world,” Goldberg added. “But every so often we do something fabulous and out there. And this was fabulous and out there.”
